The BP-250 and BP-251 output cables are RF coaxial cables with a characteristic impedance of 50Ω. Their primary function is to transmit RF power with minimal loss while maintaining signal integrity (by preventing reflections through impedance continuity). They are widely used in radio communications and broadcasting, test and measurement instruments, high-speed digital circuits, and other fields.

In high-voltage amplifier testing, all RF test equipment employed is designed with 50Ω interfaces to ensure measurement accuracy and system consistency. Commonly used supporting equipment includes:

●Signal Generator DG5200: Features a 50Ω output port for generating RF signals at specified frequencies and power levels.

●MDO7500A Oscilloscope: The channel input impedance of high-frequency oscilloscopes can typically be switched to 50Ω to match the transmission line impedance and prevent signal reflection.

●Spectrum Analyzer MSD6360A: Input port impedance is 50Ω, designed for signal spectrum analysis.

The correct connection method is as follows (see diagram):

1. Connect the signal generator output to the amplifier input using a BP-250 connector. (If the signal under test interface isn't BNC type, use BP-251 instead: alligator clips connect to the signal under test, while the BNC connector connects to the amplifier input.)

2. The amplifier's Monitor output is connected to the oscilloscope's input using a BP-250 cable.

3. The high-voltage output terminals of the amplifier should use BP-253N (banana plug to alligator clip adapters).

Potential issues with using 50 Ω coaxial cable:

1. The equivalent capacitance of a 50Ω coaxial cable is approximately 100 pF/m. In high-frequency applications, connecting a load increases the quiescent current, thereby limiting the maximum output current.

2. This setup is inconvenient to operate and poses safety hazards. If the 50Ω coaxial cable is used with the MT-246 (BNC female to banana plug adapter), there is a risk of mistakenly connecting the BP-250 to an oscilloscope, potentially damaging the equipment.
